Slow Food Alameda

Educational and Volunteer Event at Ploughshares Nursery

E-mail

Saturday Aug. 9th, 9:30AM
2701 Main St. Alameda

Let's meet at 9:30 AM at Ploughshares Nursery for a short instructional session (perhaps 30 minutes) on Autumn vegetable gardens and edible classrooms. Then spend about 90 minutes helping propagate seeds and participating in other tasks that will assist Ploughshares with a large order for a Hayward school garden.

This is an exceptional opportunity to learn new skills, carry out the Slow Food mission and help a local school. What better way to spend a summer Saturday morning ! After the work, Slow Food Alameda will offer a light "peasant lunch" of fresh fruit, cheese, bread, and perhaps some grilled vegetables or a salad. Finally, anyone interested will be invited to tour the new nearby one acre organic farm and the community gardens.

We are asking a 10$ voluntary donation to cover food costs and to benefit Ploughshares.

Please RSVP to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so we can gauge our workforce and food portions.

We really hope to see you there !
